    Hi Parents,

    Happy Snowy Weekend! With a return to school tomorrow, please remind your children that snow always stays on the ground as soon as they enter the school grounds. Also, a reminder about our sledding rules is appreciated as there will be lots of fresh snow to enjoy! We encourage them to play and sled and create, but at no time can they pick up snow at throw it.

    Here are the reminders for this week and a glance at the following week for your planning:


    PLEASE COMPLETE THE  PARENT MINISTRY STUDENT LEARNING SURVEY if you haven't already. I will resend the link again. Thanks to those parents that have done the survey. I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.

    PAC NEWS: Juniper PAC is looking for your help in the beginning stages of planning for the 1st ever Juniper Ridge Elementary Spring Social Fundraiser event. Volunteers are needed for all roles so any time you have to assist is greatly appreciated.  Let’s work together and make Juniper even greater!     BASKETBALL UPDATE: PLAYOFF SCHEDULES and PERMISSION FORMS will go home with all teams participating in Playoffs MONDAY. These forms need to be returned by Wed. Feb. 21 (since Feb. 22 and 23 we have no school)

    REMINDER: THERE IS NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS FEB. 22 or FEB. 23. One is for a Curriculum Implementation Day and the other is a NON INSTRUCTIONAL DAY.  Take time to enjoy the BC WINTER GAMES if you can take your kids to a few events.

    Mon. Feb. 19- All HERITAGE STAMPS and PARAGRAPHS due to Mrs. DeFehr for 9 am. We will be judging and choosing the GR. 3/4/5/6/7 winners afterschool.

    THE SCHOOL WILL BE DOING AN EASTER PURDY'S FUNDRAISER. ORDER FORMS will come home on FEB. 26 and are due back MARCH 8th. ORDERS will arrive at the school and be sent home/available for pick up the week before Easter. Thanks for your support!

    Mon. Feb. 26- Guest Presenter in all Primary classes with Aboriginal Focus for the day, Tier 2 (2) boys host RLC in Playoffs, PIZZA with the PRINCIPAL Lunch, GR. 4 PHYSICAL LITERACY STARTS at 8 am.

    Tues. Feb. 27- RECOGNITION ASSEMBLY 8:45 am. JRES SCIENCE FAIR for Johnston, Swift and Stonehouse's classes PM, Tier 2(1) at AEP for Playoffs

    Wed. Feb. 28- ANTI BULLYING DAY! PINK DAY! WEAR PINK!  PINK DAY ASSEMBLY 9 am- Presentation by Mrs. Swift/Lucas' class. I will also be drawing one lucky name who will get to be PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY!  GR. 4 PHYSICAL LITERACY 8 am, GOOD LUCK TO AKI LEWIS representing Juniper at the ZONE ROTARY SPEECH CONTEST 1 pm. TIER 1 GIRLS at home vs. MCGOWAN.

    Thurs. March 1- TIER 1 Boys at ASES for Playoffs, PAC PIZZA LUNCH- all students will eat at 12:05, Mother Goose Program 3-4, Kindergarten Round Up for new K parents at the HGEC 5:30 pm

    Fri. March 2- SKATING- Hill, Gatien and Pierce 1:00, WATERS class to TRU for TRY A TRADE Day, Young Artists submissions to Mrs. Stonehouse Gr. 4-7

    SATURDAY MARCH 3- COMMUNITY SAFETY DAY~ 2-4 pm. Please bring your families by the school to take in all the action!

    Just so parents are aware- TERM II ends on Friday March 2. REPORT CARDS FOR TERM II will come home on Thurs. March 14th. Teachers may communicate to parents via an "I" FORM "Improvement Needed" in Gr. 4-7 should your child be in a situation where they are not passing a subject. Students will also need to realize that assessments and project completion is very important in the next two weeks. Parents- if you can ensure your child's attendance is made a priority, unless terribly ill, we would really appreciate it.

    A reminder Mrs. Storozak and Mrs. Grimm's classes will be doing the SOLES4SOULS campaign. Please if cleaning your shoe closet, please do not toss or donate any footwear- please send it to the school for this great global project. More details will come home in the MARCH Newsletter.

    Our PBIS 430 MINION REASONS WE LOVE JUNIPER RIDGE event was a huge success. Parents, if you can come inside the school and check them out- we would love it!

    Happy Long Weekend Parents!

    Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Mon. Feb. 12 as this is FAMILY DAY.

    School returns Tues. Feb. 13 and doors will open at 8:20 am.

    *VIRTUE OF THE WEEK: LOVE of course with Valentine's Day (this is about self love, loving life, loving family and friendships and loving school and learning!)

    Please remind your child that FEBRUARY is DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION month. We follow our Code of Conduct inside, outside and everywhere (ROARS- Respect, Organized, Attitude, Responsible, and Safe) Please follow up at home about what it means to embrace diversity and how we can be an inclusive commuity regardless of differences we have with others.

    *KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION begins Tuesday Feb. 13th. I encourage parents of children turning 5 by the end of 2018 to  register February 13, 14, 15 or 16. Please note Mrs. Decker is away Feb. 15th so I am encouraging parents to come on the days I won't have a relief administrative assistant. Please bring care card/bc services card, birth certificate and your most recent Hydro Bill. I will be sending our Kindergarten Registration numbers to the School Board Office by noon on Fri. Feb. 16 to give them a sense of our space issues for the next school year.

    PAC HOT DOG DAY is coming up FRI. FEB. 16th. We do not need to change the lunch hour times when it is a Hot Dog Day.

    PAC was seeking input on their FACEBOOK PAGE Survey about increasing the amount of HOT LUNCHES to support fundraising efforts in the school. If you have an opinion please visit the PAC Facebook page to give your feedback.

    PAC, the school and the COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION are pleased to remind you about COMMUNITY SAFETY DAY coming up Sat. March 3 from 2-4 at JRES. Please try to plan to attend this event to support our great community.

    *PIZZA WITH THE PRINCIPAL FORMS are due back Wed. Feb. 14. I have attached it again in case you would like to print it off for your child. They really do want to enter!

    *MINISTRY STUDENT LEARNING SURVEY was resent to you again as we have a 42% completion rate. I AM ASKING THAT ALL PARENTS (regardless of the grade your child is in) TAKE THE TIME TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY.  There is a radio button to inform of the grade you wish to represent and you only need to do it once, not 2-3 times for all your different children. I am so grateful of your time and do appreciate you completing it.

    *GR. 4 PARENTS who wish to have their child take part in the Mon/Wed Physical Literacy project I have organized need to complete the permission form and return it by Fri. Feb. 16. This is not mandatory, but a great way for your child to start the day twice a week.

    *PINK SHIRT DAY is coming up FEB. 28- please consider getting a pink outfit ready.

    *TUES. FEB. 13- ART STARTS PEFORMANCE FOR ALL K-7's at 9 am, TIER I Boys and Girls teams travel with coaches and Mr. Richard to Clearwater. Leave by bus at 1:00/return approximately 5:45 pm, TIER 2 (1) at Parkcrest and TIER 2(2) boys at OLPH.

    *WED. FEB. 14- HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! WEAR RED OR PINK OR HEART ATTIRE for SPIRIT DAY! Intermediates have a dance option at 1:10 pm. Please send $1 or $2 as a donation for the Heart and Stroke Foundation if your child is attending the Gr. 4-7 dance (they will get a glow stick and there are great prizes to be won!)  RYMER and KLASSEN are off to STAKE LAKE for the Day!

    *THURS. FEB. 15- PBIS BIG BUDDY 430 MINION REASONS WE LOVE JUNIPER RIDGE to happen all afternoon! Check out our minions we will be creating all over our hallways! Parents- we want you to come and see them! TIER 2 GIRLS travel to Westmount today.

    *FRI. FEB. 16- FLANNEL SHIRT FRIDAY SPIRIT DAY! (or Flannel Pants-those are great too) SKATING at 1:00 at VV for PLUT, SANDHU and JOHNSTON.  PAC HOT DOG DAY!  GRIMM AND REIN's CLASSES AT HARPER MOUNTAIN. PIERCE and POWRIE's classes to the Big Little Science Centre at 8:35 departure.

    BC WINTER GAMES begin- consider taking your children to this wonderful event to support our local athletes,  and YES...even Juniper Ridge athletes, and Kamloops!

    TUES. FEB. 20- GRIMM AND REIN- STAKE LAKE, UNSWORTH, WATERS and MURRAY's classes to HARPER MOUNTAIN, TIER 1 BOYS play at home at 3:15 vs LGES, TIER 2 Boys teams travel to PAC WAY. MRS. SWIFT/LUCAS' class will be doing their PRESENTATION OF LEARNING Open House to Parents from 6-7 pm.

    WED. FEB. 21- Mrs. Powrie's classes will get a special guest to her gym classes to do some unique Physical Literacy! This was our gift for participating in the UNPLUG AND PLAY challenge as a school!

    THURS. FEB. 22- NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS. Curriculum Implementation Day for teachers being held for our Family of Schools at Juniper.

    FRI. FEB. 23- NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS. This is a planned NON INSTRUCTIONAL DAY for teachers to take part in Professional Learning.  Again, our school is hosting a variety of sessions.
