I am so excited to welcome back your children tomorrow for their 2017-2018 School Year at Juniper Ridge.
Kindergarten Parents- we know you have your own gradual entry schedule so please follow that and the teachers are looking forward to your meetings and small groups over the next week. Please read below for where interviews will be. Gr. 1 Parents- can you also read to the end to know the plan for your children.
Tomorrow your children will come home with a JUNIPER RIDGE SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER. It will also be posted to the website and emailed to you.
Please note that with the fire situation still troublesome in our area, the district has taken steps to advise principals when the AIR QUALITY is worrisome and if strenuous activities outside need to be postponed(for example our Terry Fox run). We will monitor the air quality to ensure children and staff safety is at the forefront of importance.
I am excited to tell parents and students about our new JUNIPER RIDGE STICKER MACHINE! For $1.00 (loonies only- sorry no quarters) children can purchase a Juniper Ridge Logo Spirit Sticker, plus other novelty stickers. It might be that your child will want to earn a $1 by completing chores or they might save their money to get one. These are a fundraiser for the school organized by myself, Mrs. DeFehr. For every dollar spent it will allow me to plan creative initiatives for kids! The sticker machine will be set up outside the library in the hallway. Children should know they may purchase stickers before school daily or afterschool. Thanks for your support.
For the next few days, until our classes are set, we have had to be creative with where some of our students will be housed. All children will report to last year's teacher on Tuesday. Even our Gr.1's will get to return to their K classrooms for Tuesday for a short period of time before the K teachers start their interviews with the new incoming K families.
ALL NEW STUDENTS TO JUNIPER WILL REPORT TO THE LIBRARY and may enter the school through the front doors. ALL OTHER STUDENTS SHOULD LINE UP AT THE DOOR they did last year and a teacher will be there to welcome you all in at 10:20 on Tuesday.
Please see below for a detailed list of room assignments and staff that will be caring for your children while we are in a bit of a transition:
LIBRARY- ALL NEW STUDENTS ( with Nicole Gorman and Sherri Hoffer)
They will be there for attendance and then Mrs. Gorman and Mrs. Hoffer will deliver them to a grade grouping that is appropriate that we have pre-arranged on their attendance sheet.
They will be told to report to the library after they are dismissed from the assembly to find their parents but should go back to the classroom with the class after the assembly to see where to report on Wednesday.
ALL last year’s K’s (GR. 1’s) will report back to HILL, GATIEN and VIGNA LAWRENCE(PINEO)'s ROOM 10:30-10:55 for a welcome back hello for 25 min.
Ashley Unsworth(TTOC)will be the ‘PINEO’ replacement in ROOM 106 for Tuesday
They will report there from 10:30-10:55 as K interviews begin at 11:00 am with our NEW Kindergarten families.
At 10:55 the K students(now Gr. 1’s) will be picked up to enjoy the assembly by:
VIGNE LAWRENCE (PINEO) - TTOC HEAD
ALL STUDENTS will report back to last year’s teacher’s classroom.
WITH ROOM CHANGES/NEW HIRES THIS SUMMER the following need to report to these rooms:
STOROZAK back to STOROZAK in ROOM 115

UNSWORTH/KRISJANSON students will report to the PORTABLE 301 with Staci Murray
KINDERGARTEN PARENTS/STUDENTS that have INTERVIEWS WITH VIGNA LAWRENCE WILL HAVE THOSE INTERVIEWS in ROOM 104. Ashley Unsworth is the TTOC in place at present and she has agreed to have those interviews in this room for Tues/Wednesday. This allows our Gr. 1 students to be in a more familiar space until such time as we can move into our new divisions. Parents who have interviews with Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Gatien can find them in their usual spaces- HILL ROOM 107 and GATIEN ROOM 108.
WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 6th 8:30-2:30
All students that were new Tuesday should report to the room they were at the assembly with.
HILL, GATIEN AND UNSWORTH ALL DOING INTERVIEWS with NEW K FAMILIES
Those parents that have interviews with VIGNA LAWRENCE(UNSWORTH) WILL BE IN ROOM 104 doing her interviews. This classroom is right beside the main office and Mrs. Decker will happily show you where to go if you are unsure.
The Gr. 1’s will come to their door/cubbies they had last year to place their belongings and the assigned teacher will pick up and drop off at dismissal the Gr. 1’s in their usual hallway from last year. The assigned teachers will be there to greet and gather the children for the start and end of the day for ease for parents/childcare providers.
The Gr. 1's and Gr. 6's will be in the following rooms:
GATIEN’S CLASS to TANNER/POWRIE’S ROOM 200
HILL’s CLASS to RICHARD ROOM 117
VIGNA LAWRENCE (PINEO) USUAL CLASSROOM 106 with TTOC HEAD
UNSWORTH/KRISJANSON to PORTABLE 301 with MURRAY
Please know that our staff will be in the hallways to offer support and directions as needed tomorrow and Wednesday.
A reminder that the staff parking lot is out of bounds for any parents to drop off or pick up. With the upgrades to Qu'Appelle Blvd this summer a reminder that no parking is permitted in the front of the school. That is strictly the CITY OF KAMLOOPS Transit area and even daycares must park elsewhere. Please be patient and understand that safety is sometimes not about convenience for parents, but about keeping our kids out of harms way.
Lastly, please know that I will be in touch again on the evening prior to when we are set to move to new divisions. I will let parents know what the plan is for our staff and students when we have finalized enrollment for the first few days. Fingers crossed that I can do this in a timely manner- it really is just dependent on how many new faces arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thank you for your understanding.
A reminder that you are welcome to attend the WELCOME BACK ASSEMBLY tomorrow at 11:15 am. We will begin loading the gym at 11 am. Parents, I will be introducing the staff and have lots of information to share about the school year. Please join us if you like.
Mrs. DeFehr (One very proud principal of 436 Juniper Ridge Kids)
