VIRTUE OF DETERMINATION
IT IS HOUR OF CODE WEEK across the province! December 4-10 is Computer Science Education Week! The hope is that our classes will spend some time learning about coding and why it is important. As parents, I welcome you to check out the Hour of Code website https://hourofcode.com and see the potential for our students in this content area.
Parents of Gr. 3-7 students- if you are pondering a Christmas gift for your child- a Lenovo or Acer Chromebook is a wonderful gift and tool for learning! Our children all have Google Apps for Education accounts through the School District. SO MUCH of what they do during their day for inquiry and project based learning is done on a chromebook. By using Google Drive your child can work on their project at school and then pick up right where they left off at home! A chromebook does not have a hard drive. All your child's work is stored in the cloud which is what makes a chromebook a great gift. They start at around $280 so very reasonable in comparison to an ipad or laptop. The keyboards are also perfect sizes for student size hands! I got my daughter one when she was in Gr. 5 when they first came out. She is now in Gr. 11 and is using the same one for all her school work. Just some principal advice for consideration.
